Adding footprint and 3D Model to schematic symbol

By Applied Electronics - Monday, June 30, 2014 No Comments
In the last tutorials, an integrated library project was created for M10 GSM/ GPRS module in altium designer. Then schematic symbol, footprint and 3D model was created for the LLC M10 chip. In this final tutorial, the footprint and the 3D model will be added to the schematic symbol.

To view the last three tutorials follow the following links-

Part 1 - Start Integrated Library Project and create Schematic Symbol
Part 2- Create Footprint
Part 2- Create 3D model

Now once we have the schematic symbol, footprint and 3D model ready we can merged them together as described below.

Go to the schematic library window and select the schematic part. In the buttom of the screen click on the Add Footprint option.

Once you click the Add Footprint, a window will pop up that allows you to browse and select the footprint as shown below. Click the browse button and the footprint will appear in the selection dialog box.

Once added the footprint added information is seen on the schematic symbol footprint information window.

Now the Part is ready to be placed onto the schematic and during the PCB creation, the footprint and 3D model will be available.

This completes the tutorial of creating integrated library.
