How to customize Scope in Simulink

In this 6th part of the tutorial Modeling digital communication systems using Simulink we will show how to customize Scope in Simulink. As you know the Simulink Scope block does not support the manipulation of graphics properties in scope displays such as changing the colors, style, axis properties and labels. But there is way around this and we will share this trick here.

To illustrate how you can customize Scope in Simulink, we take the example simulink and scope of the previous tutorial How to generate multiple sinusoid signal in simulink. The model and the graph in time scope is shown below,

How to generate multiple sinusoid signal in simulink

Suppose we want change this time scope. For example let change the colors, style, axis properties and labels to this time scope.To do that open matlab command prompt and type in the followings,

shh = get(0,’ShowHiddenHandles’);
set(0,’ShowHiddenHandles’,’On’);
set(gcf,’menubar’,’figure’);
set(gcf,’CloseRequestFcn’,’closereq’);
set(gcf,’DefaultLineClipping’,’Off’);
set(0,’ShowHiddenHandles’,shh);

After this you should see Edit tab in the time scope.

Now select Figure Properties from the Edit tab and change the colors, style, axis properties, and labels.

So in this way you can easily customize Scope in Simulink.
